The Central Bank of Liberia has launched the Liberian Inclusive Instant Payments System (IIPS), The Paypers reports, working with Mojaloop, ThitsaWorks and the AfricaNenda Foundation.

Built on the open-source Mojaloop platform, the system allows real-time mobile money transfers between Lonestar Cell MTN and Orange Liberia. The report says it is the first real-money deployment of Mojaloop version 17.

The aim is to reduce reliance on cash and make payments such as government salaries and social benefits faster and more transparent.

The Central Bank’s own website carries the Executive Governor’s remarks from the launch on 16 December 2025.
