Lantern, a Liberian cybersecurity and software engineering research firm, won the national Startup World Cup pitch competition as the 2026 Liberia Technology Summit closed on 22 July, the Liberian Observer reports.
Led by chief executive Cyrus Jentzen, Lantern finished ahead of KRONYX and will represent Liberia at the global Startup World Cup finals in the United States.
Jentzen, who spent 15 years in Australia working in cybersecurity, told reporters he had returned home to focus on protecting government systems and critical national infrastructure.
The regional competition followed a partnership announced in March between the summit organisers, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority and the global Startup World Cup, The Liberian Investigator reported.
